We about us!

Wolfgang Jendsch

The FirePublications/Feuerwehrpresse Wolfgang Jendsch was established in April 1989. It understands itself as a special agency for

The agency operates in Germany, Europe and in the western states of America for Publishing Houses (books, magazines), Editor Departments (public press, special press, broadcast/television) as well as for Auxiliary and Rescue Organizations.
Special topics in our job: Project-related specialists of different sections (fire protection, medicine, graphic/design/printing) are to the cooperation for order.

Our EDP working place #1 (picture left): from here we send texts and pictures into numerous European countries as well as into the USA.
Thinking, planing or organizicing we do from our working place #2 (picture in the middle).
For conferencies or to relax with a coffee: guests and visitors are really welcome in the rooms of the agency (picture right).

Center of work - "Wildland Firefighting" (Wald- und Flächenbrandbekämpfung):
Large wall maps in the office show the always current wildfire situation in the ten western states of the USA.  Marked are here not only the areas of the large wildfires of the last years, but also the bases of the tactical operation ressources like airtankers, fire-helicopters, smokejumpers and hotshot-crews. Hundreds of needles on the maps are showing the fire departments and stations, who have been visited in the last years.
At the same time the relevant wildland incidents will be registered on computers and appropriate to the real situation shown in regular or 3D-maps. Electronic links make direct information connections to the units on scene (Fire Departments, Air Attack) available, to webcams on Fire Airbases or radio communication connections to the Command Center available.
On the right picture a 3D-computer view of the "Cerro Grande Fire" in New Mexico, USA.

Working place #3 in the archiv room (picture left): look through, sort out and file - nothing should be lost and all must be find again!
More than 45,000 colour slides of Fire- and Emergency Services are managed in the picture archiv (picture right).

FirePublications - New Name and new Logo!
The former "Presse- und Werbeagentur" (Press- and Public Relations Agency) got a new name: "FirePublications"!
With this new name and with the respective logo we will try to be equivalent in the context of our work and the growing international contacts.
While the characters "FirePublications" marked our letterheads, our emails and our webpages since a longer time, you will find the embroidered logo with the stylized flame and the Europe-Stars next on our duty clothes, on t-shirts and on other presentations.
"FirePublications", flame and stars will now especially reflect our international views and orientations in the context of the Fire- and Rescue Services in Germany, Europe and in the USA.

FirePublications - now patches with the new logo, too!
Now our patches with the new logo are available! They were created especially for our work in foreign countries and therefor they are equiped with english markings for "Feuerwehr" and "Rettung" (FIRE RESCUE) and with the function term "Documentation" (German: Dokumentation) as well.
Shirts, sweaters and jackets of the "FirePublications" will be equiped with the new patches in future.

Documentation mobile - with GPS and Laptop
For our jobs out of office for taking pictures, preparing reports and doing the documentation of fire- and emergency operations as well as during fire training operations their was a four-wheel-drive duty car type Opel-Frontera available. Up to March 1999 the car was used as "Florian Konstanz 7" (radio call) for documentation and media affairs (PIO) and up to the end of December 2002 and from October 2005 to August 2008 as "Florian Radolfzell 6/4" (DokuF) also for the Radolfzell Fire Department to manage the incidents documentation.
Our new duty car is a Mitsubishi Pajero 2,5 TD (see pictures below).
Also the new "mobile office" is equipped among others with traffic-navigation, "Global Positioning System" (GPS; two different systems), laptop with internet connection (GPRS) and "Graphic Information System" (GIS), car phone/cell phone, cell phone communicator (email, fax, SMS, internet), radio communication (11-m-Band "PIO 2", 70-cm walkie-talkies "PIO 1-3"), reflex- and reflex-digitalcameras with all conveniences as well as with fire- and emergency basic equipment (fire extinguishers, lighting material, light rescue equipment, medical equipment, personell fire protection equipment).

The "mobile office" for our jobs all over in Europe: the Mitsubishi Pajero is equipped among others with traffic-navigation, laptop and telekommunication as well as with the neccessary equipment for photodocumentations.
Comparable to the Opel Frontera (photo below) the equipment of the Mitsubishi is extended. So an additional video-recording installation for the laptop is currently in test.

Especially interesting out of "Fire Departments/Fire Service" and "Emergency Service" may be our special picture archiv. It contains numerous pictures about international Fire Departments, Emergency Services and Rescue Organizations, their operations and techniqual equipment. One of the topics of our photo dokumentation is "wildland firefighting" in the western US states. Here are about 10,000 pictures about apparatus of US wildland fire agencies/departments (also air tankers and fire helicopters) as well as about the fire operations available.
Some examples about our topics you will find on the following pages:
